My time in London

Ophelia's green spa paint colors are inspired by the Charlotte Street Hotel in London! Thank you, Jeremy Renner for directing one of my all time favorite clients to this magnificent hotel.

How and where do I start to write a blog? Well, I am incredibly Thankful to have so many inspiring people in my life. A year ago I did not anticipate that I would be at this point, starting a new business I can call my own. With a product line that continues to reach out globally by contributing organic food to sick kids and trying to help in the fight to rid deforestation plus lets not forget about how result orientated their skincare products are! My clients and Eminence Organics helped me get to the point I am now by encouragement and thru kindness.

If you have not thought about London I suggest you start, especially if you love art. There is the British Museum where you can see the Rosetta Stone. The Parthenon Sculpture, this is the head of one of the horses that drew the chariot of the moon goddess Selene or Nyx, goddess of the night. I just wanted to take it home and slip it into someones bed unknowingly. There is the National Gallery where you can feast your eyes a pond works of art by Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt, and so many more breath taking paintings that might remind you of a memory. I believe artists have the remarkable ability to pick a person up.

Now let's talk about a musical that Kathy and I saw. Carol King BEAUTIFUL. Before you say you don't enjoy musicals just hush, listen to the music she wrote & her story. Long before Carole King turned into the chart-topping music legend, she was an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent. She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and sold her first hit, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, she was just seventeen. By the time she reached her twenties she had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll from Aretha Franklin to The Monkees, The Drifters, to The Shirelles. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice. BEAUTIFUL tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation, with countless classics such as You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman, Take Good Care of my Baby, You’ve Got a Friend, So Far Away, It Might As Well Rain Until September, Up on the Roof, and Locomotion. I guess what I'm trying to tell you is to go and watch it and if you have clients as lovely as mine they may just borrow you their audiobook.

Any Who, The Picture posted above is the inspiration behind one of the colors chosen for Ophelia's green spa. Of course Ireland inspired The Rest! Oh Ireland, I'll have to Blog about you next won't I. My home away from home.

How do I prepare myself before waxing?

The best way to prepare yourself is to first relax and know you're in good hands.  I am very well trained and experienced. Our goal is to make this treatment as pleasant as possible and to help you be as comfortable with the procedure as possible. You can be confident in my hygiene practices and skill.

  • You will want to avoid using harsh soaps or astringents for 2 hours before and after waxing. If you can begin exfoliating your skin a few days prior to waxing that is very helpful.
  • Please avoid any tanning for 24 hours before waxing. You’ll also want to avoid long soaks in hot water (LONG hot showers, steam rooms, hot soaking baths, hot tubs etc.) for 8 hours before or after treatment.
  • Do not apply lotions, oils, body sprays, or other scented or moisturizing products on the day of your wax.
  • Please skip perfumes and other scented products (antiperspirant/deodorant use however is a nice touch) prior to your treatment, we are allergic to fragrances.
  • A quick shower to clean up especially before genital waxing is appreciated.
  • Some clients choose to take an OTC pain reliever such as Advil or Tylenol 60 minutes before their appointment.
  • Some clients that take an antacid or two 30 minutes before their appointment experience less redness post treatment.
  • If you are taking prescription medications for acne or anti-aging purposes or using Retinol type products I will be unable to provide you with waxing services due to the potential for skin damage (as in your skin will be removed along with perhaps some of the hair) please understand that isn't a risk either of us want to take so don't withhold information or skin peeling will occur.
  • If you need to use the restroom it is at the end of the hall, please have a seat in the hall if you are early and a service is still in session, I will be out shortly.
  • I do not allow guests or observers in the treatment room nor do I allow photographs or videos to be taken onsite.
  • Avoid caffeine or other stimulants 6 - 10 hours before treatment.
  • Don't drink alcohol prior to your treatment; don't come in terribly hung over, both make your wax so much more uncomfortable.
  • Don't smoke 4 hours prior to treatment.
  • Avoid sweaty activities for 8 to 24 hours. No hut tubs for 48 hours.
  • Keep the paws off, do not touch or rub the area until it is healed which takes 1-2 days after your wax.
  • Manual exfoliation begins 2 days after your wax on all areas. Strawberry Rubarb Dermafoliant is my recommendation with the apricot body oil. This allows a better waxing experience.
  • Repair for post-treatment relief. I recommend our Rosehip & Lemongrass soothing hydrator
  • If you have been shaving the area, I need you to let it grow for NOT LESS than three full weeks from the last shave
